Manufacturing Technologies

Excellence in pharmaceutical manufacturing

Our 60,000 m2 drugs production plant has a capacity of up to 23 million units a year and is equipped with advanced Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) technology, allowing the release of ophthalmic products in unit- and multi-dose formats.
The introduction of the unit-dose format has enabled us to respond effectively to the need for greater tolerability and dosage precision of the drug. Indeed, the BFS system provides the opportunity to manufacture without using preservatives and to accurately calibrate the quantity of drug to be instilled.

Versatility in surgery

Our new manufacturing facility dedicated to the production of the MIRA® intraocular lenses range, is an example of technological excellence. It was conceived according to the highest standards and ensures unsurpassed levels of precision and control in all phases of production for every single unit. This allows the release of superior quality lenses through an extraordinarily more flexible process compared to common manufacturing standards.
The use of robotics in the manufacturing process, together with the adoption of an advanced ERP system for production planning, makes the facility extraordinarily flexible, therefore permitting a strategy of constant product innovation.
The plant has been designed according to the concept of “open product atelier”: the glass walls and the broad spaces allow visitors to feel involved and interact with the production process.
SIFI is also setting up a surgery training centre within the facility.

Advanced engineering in diagnostics

SIFI diagnostic products owe their competitive advantage to their sophisticated engineering and to their ergonomic features, which make them ideally suited to respond to the needs of both physicians and patients.
Their manufacturing encompasses optical, electronic, mechanical and software engineering, with added value coming from the integration of these technologies into easy-to-use instruments.
