A global commitment to ophthalmology
SIFI was established in Catania in 1935 by two pharmacists, Antonino Benanti and Carmelo Chines, as a venture specialised in the preparation of ophthalmic products.
Retaining its exclusive focus on EyeCare, the company has grown over time, extending its business activities beyond pharmaceuticals, to also embrace surgery and diagnostics.
The company currently employs 40 R&D specialists and invests 14% of its turnover in this area.
SIFI holds regular symposia and meetings aimed at promoting a constant knowledge exchange with the medical community. In surgery, in particular, SIFI holds sessions specifically dedicated to the optimal use of devices, so as to guarantee the success of surgical practice.
SIFI’s global commitment to EyeCare also embraces education and specialist press publishing:
SIFI’s press arm was indeed responsible for the publishing of the only Encyclopaedia of Ophthalmology in Italian, of several scientific publications on specific pathologies and, since forty years, of L’OCULISTA ITALIANO, a benchmark scientific journal for Italian ophthalmologists.
